Fatigue? Too much sleep can lead to lead to illness, experts say.

Experts suggest 8 hours of sleep in order not to feel the side effects of fatigue, but many Americans are only getting an average of 5-6 hours of sleep a night. Sooner or later it catches up and comes in the form of illness. However, while it may have sleep as a common factor, there are other preventable warning signs.

First, anemia arrives from a variety of ways. It's most common in women who have heavy menstrual cycles, and anemia may also be caused by internal bleeding. For women who have just given birth, anemia may be common. However, vitamin deficiency may also play a key role. Women who are not eating enough iron, B12 or folic aid may experience anemia as a result. Some of these staple foods may be fish, eggs, pasta, breads, turkey and beans. Anemia is often brought on by feeling cold, dizzy and irritable.

Caffeine has the reputation to give people an "energy boost," but when people drink too much, it has the opposite effect. It makes people tired, especially when it is consumed late at night. The solution is obvious: remove caffeine from your diet as much as possible. However, keep in mind this: caffeine is not only in soda and coffee. These unexpected foods may be chocolate, tea, energy drinks and some alcohol liquor. In fact, those who drink, or eat, caffeine are more likely to struggle with weight gain. These individuals also have a higher level of glucose (sugar), anxiety and depression--all of which can lead to more serious problems.

Sleep apnea, a sleep disorder common among overweight or obese women, is when the individual does not realize they are getting enough sleep during the night. This disorder also occurs in men, but not as often. The person may stop breathing for a few seconds to interrupt their sleep cycle, but this is a serious sleep disorder. It can lead to a stroke or heart attack if left untreated. Those individuals who snore may be more vulnerable to this disorder.

Chronic fatigue syndrome, which has yet to determine a cause, may also be a reason why your productivity may be low. Some of the symptoms include short-term memory, fatigue lasting more than 6 months, muscle aches or headaches. It's common to contract CFS after recovering from a bacterial virus, such as the flu. However, CFS is well-treated with antibiotics so it should go away quickly.

Finally, women--it's important that you take care of your heart. Heart disease is the number one killer of women, and it often starts with fatigue. When vacuuming the house becomes too hard because you're tired afterwards, this is a warning sign. Medication can often correct the problem, and it would help you avoid a heart attack.
